Manual lymph drainage (MLD) is a very gentle technique that helps your body remove excess fluid and waste from connective tissues, reducing inflammation and alleviating pain. It is beneficial for a variety of conditions, such as headaches, whiplash, sinus congestion, pre- and post-surgery recovery, surgical and burn scars, arthritis, strains, sprains, tendonitis, bursitis, and frozen shoulder.
MLD can also be an effective way to treat vertigo, tinnitus, or Meniere’s disease, as these conditions can sometimes be linked to excess lymph in the inner ear or surrounding nerves. Additionally, regular lymphatic drainage may improve skin conditions like acne, psoriasis, and eczema, as these often result from inflammatory responses.
Manual lymph drainage can help with several neurological conditions. For example, it can help with multiple sclerosis (MS) by reducing inflammation in the myelin sheath of nerves and improving the transmission of nerve impulses.
Overall, manual lymph drainage is helpful for a wide range of issues linked to inflammation and excess fluid in the body. Please note that this technique is very gentle and does not require the therapist to apply deep pressure. However, deep pressure techniques can be incorporated into the treatment if needed.
